Viridian Clearline PV16-335-G1 335W Full Black In-Roof Solar Panel | BBA Certified BIPV

335W Peak Power Roof Integrated BIPV Full Black Monocrystalline Silicon 20.7% Efficiency BBA Certified MCS Approved

The Viridian Clearline Clearline PV16-335-G1 Full Black is an in-roof solar PV module from the Clearline Fusion range — the only mainstream integrated solar system where both panel and mounting system are made by the same company. Designed to replace the roof covering entirely, it integrates flush with slate and tile rooflines for a clean, low-profile aesthetic that on-roof racking cannot match. At 335Wp peak power with 20.7% module efficiency, it features G1-format half-cut PERC cells (158.75mm) over a full black backsheet with black anodised frame, in a G1 format (1,000mm wide). It achieves the highest fire rating (BRoof Class B — T1 to T4, all regions) without any modifications to roof timbers, and is certified by BBA (Certificate 0032) and MCS (MCS05, MCS12). Genuine Stäubli MC4 connectors, a 15-year product warranty and a 25-year power warranty are included. Note: current V3 production has slightly different cell colouration from earlier G1 versions — do not mix V3 and earlier G1 modules on the same visible roof section.

Key Features

  • In-roof integration replaces the roof covering — panels sit flush within the roofline; no raised brackets or racking visible
  • 335Wp peak power at STC — high-output monocrystalline for maximum generation from limited roof area
  • 20.7% module efficiency — among the highest available for integrated in-roof solar
  • Full black aesthetic — black frame, black backsheet, dark cells for uniform premium appearance
  • Half-cut cell technology — reduces resistance losses, improves shade tolerance and reliability
  • Genuine Stäubli MC4 connectors — industry standard; compatible with all major inverters
  • BRoof fire classification Class B (T1–T4, all regions) — highest UK roofing fire rating; no timber modifications required
  • Wind resistance up to 8.0 kPa ultimate design load
  • Compatible with the widest range of slate and tile — special fixings for different batten thicknesses
  • Fitted during the normal roofing programme — one contractor responsible for weathertightness and solar
  • Rapid installation — less than 45 minutes per kWp easily achieved
  • BBA Certificate 0032 — independently assessed for structural durability and weathertightness
  • MCS05 and MCS12 approved — meets MCS product requirements
  • IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 certified — international PV quality and safety standards
  • 25-year power warranty — 90% rated power at 10 years, 80% at 25 years
  • 15-year product warranty — against manufacturing defects
  • Structural durability equivalent to roof structure
  • Compatible with G1 flashing kits only — G1 modules require G1-specific flashings; standard Clearline flashings will not fit this format

Installation Overview

⚠️ MCS-registered installer required. Clearline Fusion must be installed by an MCS-registered solar PV installer working with a competent roofing contractor. Electrical connections must comply with BS 7671.

1 Survey and design: Confirm roof pitch (30–60°), batten spacing and tile type. Use Viridian's array sizing formula to calculate panel and kit counts.
2 Prepare the roof deck: Install underlay and tile battens normally. Mark array footprint — no additional timbers or structural modifications required.
3 Install the roofing kit: Fit Viridian rafter brackets, head, sill and side flashings per the Clearline Fusion installation guide. Use G1 roofing kits for this module.
4 Lay surrounding tiles: Continue tiling around the array frame. Tiles integrate with flashings to form a weathertight continuous roof surface.
5 Insert the panels: Slide each 335W panel into the frame from the sill upward. Panels clip into rafter brackets and are secured with side covers.
6 Connect DC wiring: Connect Stäubli MC4 connectors to form strings. Fit ArcBox enclosures (VIR-ARC04-01) to manually crimped connectors — especially important for BIPV. Route DC cables to inverter.
7 Commission: Complete MCS commissioning documentation. Test string voltages and insulation resistance before energising the inverter.

ℹ️ Array sizing: Width = (m × 1030) + 230mm; Height = (n × 1691) + 500mm (where n = rows, m = columns). Minimum pitch: 30°. Maximum pitch: 60°.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhat is the difference between Clearline Fusion in-roof and standard on-roof solar?
Clearline Fusion modules replace the roof covering — they become the weathertight skin of the roof. The result is a flush, low-profile finish integrated during the normal roofing programme. On-roof systems sit above tiles on raised racking and require a separate installation visit after roofing is complete.

QWhat roofing kit does this panel require?
This module requires G1-specific flashings and roofing kits. Standard Clearline flashings will not fit the G1 format. G1 and M10 modules must not be mixed on the same roof.

QWhat roof pitch is the system compatible with?
Between 30° and 60°. Below 30°, weathertightness cannot be guaranteed. Above 60°, a structural assessment is required.

QCan Clearline Fusion be retrofitted?
Yes — the system suits retrofit when a roof is being re-tiled or repaired. A competent roofing contractor must assess the existing structure before proceeding.

QWhat is the BRoof fire classification?
BRoof is the highest fire classification for a roofing system under EN 13501-5. Clearline Fusion achieves Class B BRoof for all four UK climate zones (T1–T4) without any structural modifications. Many competitor in-roof systems require additional fire-resistant underlays; Clearline Fusion does not.

QWhat is the wind resistance?
Characteristic wind resistance: 5.32 kPa; ultimate design load: 8.0 kPa. Significantly exceeds wind loading requirements for the vast majority of UK locations including exposed coastal sites.

QAre the connectors compatible with all inverters?
The panels use genuine Stäubli MC4 connectors — the global standard, compatible with all major string and hybrid inverters. Do not cross-mate with non-Stäubli connectors. Use Viridian ArcBox enclosures on all manually crimped joints.

QWhat warranties apply?
15-year product warranty against manufacturing defects. 25-year power warranty guaranteeing ≥90% rated output at 10 years and ≥80% at 25 years.

QHow many panels are needed for a typical installation?
At 335Wp per panel: 4 kWp ≈ 12 panels, 5 kWp ≈ 15 panels, 6 kWp ≈ 18 panels.

QCan panels be installed portrait or landscape?
Yes — the Clearline Fusion system supports both orientations with separate roofing kit variants.
